Random Copolymer
Random Copolymer is the third product category at Regal Petrochemical. This type of polypropylene (PP) consists of chains with small amounts of ethylene or higher olefin units (such as butene or hexane) randomly dispersed among propylene units. The inclusion of ethylene in the polymer chain reduces crystallization tendencies, leading to enhanced impact resistance, a softer texture, broader thermal insulation capabilities, wrinkle resistance, and improved transparency. Due to its lower crystallinity, Random Copolymer has a lower melting point and specific gravity compared to Homopolymer.
Homopolymer
Homopolymer is the first product category at Regal Petrochemical. Homopolymer PP is produced through the polymerization of propylene. It is stiffer and offers better resistance to high temperatures compared to copolymers, but its impact resistance is limited at subzero temperatures. The primary applications of homopolymers include the extrusion of fibers and filaments for cords, warps, carpet backings, facial yarns, upholstery fabrics, clothing, filters, geotextiles, disposable diapers, medical fabrics, automotive interiors, bags, and strapping tapes
Block Copolymer
Block Copolymer is the second product category at Regal Petrochemical. In block copolymers, the ethylene content is significantly higher than in random copolymers. The copolymerized segment forms a rubber-like material that creates a separate dispersed phase within the PP matrix. As a result, PP Block Copolymer is much tougher than homopolymerized PP and can withstand higher impacts, even at low temperatures, albeit at the expense of transparency and softening points
